Being ripped off...or not! After crawling out of St: Peter's and the Vatican take your time to look for a decent place to eat and drink. DO NOT go to Cuppolone at Borgo Pio! They are dumb, unfriendly, overprized and their pizza stinks! Extraordinary food (homemade pasta) for exceptionally good value prices you can find in Trastevere at the Osteria Le mani in pasta. It's a very small place off the beaten track in Trastevere - near St. Cecilia (lovely church!) so go early or book a table (phone 06.5816017). Their pasta is awesome!!!!! |
A pillow to rest your head An ok place to stay while staying in Rome is the Hotel Paris (www.hotelparisroma.com) which is near the main station and Piazza Repubblica on Via Firenze. It's clean, conveniently located in walking distance to everything, close to a metro station in case your feet hurt too much and the staff speak English. |
Colloseum It's better from the outside! When we were there there must have been some cultural days, since all the museums and even the entry to the Colloseum were free. I think I would have felt ripped off in case I had to pay to get in! But it makes a great view against the sunset.... from the outside! |
