Key West is one of my favorite getaways whenever I am in Miami. I used to go very frequently, when I lived in South Beach, and have easily learned to appreciate this relaxing paradise and its relaxed people. You soon forget about your daily life stress and see things differently even if you are a nervous person. |
One of my favourite parts about a trip to Key West is the drive down from Miami. It lasts about 4 hours, and you can't drive fast as most of the road is one lane, but it's actually better that way as you can thus appreciate the beautiful surroundings: swamps, islands, crystal blue green waters, and never ending bridges. So if you can, drive down in a convertible and enjoy the ride! They are working on widening the road though, and most of the way to Key Largo (the first key) will soon be two lanes. While some people might be very happy about this change, I think it's the end of an era... |
The best way to enjoy the real Key West is: 1. Slow down. Relax. Act as if you have all the time in the world 2. Stay in a typical B&B 3. Rent a bike 4. Go barhopping |

Felicidades. Mailo | pchamlis Fri Oct 17, 2003 13:50 UTC Very nice little Key West page, Vanessa. I live in Florida, and have been all over the world. But, I've NEVER been to the Keys. Sometimes, you don't see what's in your own backyard I suppose. : ) | morgane1692 Mon Jun 16, 2003 01:05 UTC Thanks for the Louie's Backyard recommendation, that's definitely on my list when I head to KW next month. That, the lighthouse, the shipwreck museum, and the bluuuue sea! |
