"A continent in miniature"

Not only sun, party and booze…

Colorful houses and flowers
Gran Canaria is known for many people as just a place to have their periodical dose of sun, party and booze... but there is much more: Volcanic landscapes (not so impressive as El Teide in Tenerife, or the Montañas de Fuego in Lanzarote, but interesting anyway), some green and less spoilt areas (not so wild as La Palma, Gomera or El Hierro), and some interesting old towns. It can fit a good relaxing or party holiday with some bits of nature and culture. As the island tourism authorities' motto: like a mini-continent in an island!

As I said for Tenerife: Depending of how many days you stay, you easily visit other islands as a side trips, there are frequent ferries and flights. And not forget to enjoy the delicious local food, avoid the touristy restaurants (easier to say!) and go to local places in the fishing villages or interior towns. "Papas con mojo" and fresh grilled fish... yummmm!
