Madrid, as all of you probably know, is the capital of Spain, and it's located in the very geographical centre of the country. This location is great, according locals, as you are "close to everywhere". However, I have to say I felt mostly "in the middle of nowhere" as I missed the sea so much... But I should reckon it's a great place to visit (better as a tourist than for day to day living) and there are fabulous places nearby you can visit on a daytrip: my favourite is Segovia, closely followed by Toledo.
