I've stayed here 3 times so far (and I absolutely will like to stay again!), as it is located in front of my company's office in Copenhagen. So, they try to book us rooms there for our business meetings, and even used the hotel facilities for large meetings. I really like the place. Located in a warehouse building from 1787, right next to Nyhavn. The staff was always friendly and professional. It's a hotel that I would not hesitate to recommend both for couples, families and business people (great conference facilities).
Unique Qualities: The rooms are very comfortable and the large wood beams give them a lot of character. From the ones at the harbour side you can enjoy the view of the boats and the new Opera building; it's really beautiful at night. The buffet breakfast was always good, I've not tried the restaurant but I heard is quite good too.

Another business trip to Copenhagen... but this time willing to extend the trip for 3 days without spending an arm and a leg. Fortunately at the time I already knew some VTrs who live in Copenhagen or who had stayed there. Maybe I should had keep this gem as secret... but I feel I've to share this finding! The only "con" was the common bathroom and common kitchen. But not really a "con" as these were spotless clean. Usually I do only stay in ensuite rooms... but in this case, the feeling of being in a real Copenhagen's house and the location were more than worth it the relative nuisance. The place was nearly empty so I could see most of the rooms, all were lovely. They put me at the biggest room (it may hose 4 people!) even I did pay the single room rate (400 DKK) and I had great views over the street, but not very noisy, it was quite well insulated. It is located walking distance to most of the museums and main attractions. You can prepare your own breakfast... but right across the street is a Lagkagehuset's, according Allan (TheView) the best Copenhagen bakeries. With its huge variety of sweets and pastries, good coffee and chocolate... who wants to cook? Definitely I would like to stay there again!

I was lucky enough to stay at this hotel for a couple of day during a business meeting. Yes, lucky as the hotels is really good (but I guess you should expect that for a 5-star, right?) It is a very modern hotel. Maybe too modern I'd say (and I like modern hotels!). But some details as the glass doors on the bathroom (honestly, I like a bit more of intimacy on the shower... it did not matter this time as I was alone!!), or the light cubes used as side tables (very nice-looking but not really functional)... seemed just too "design for design" to me. The decor was perfect, but not warm and welcoming. The beds are fantastic and I did sleep perfectly. But be aware that that first and second floor can be loud and noisy from the bar on the ground floor, better to stay at the upper floors.
Unique Qualities: The whole lobby and restaurant area is very nice with great design. Totally trendy as the hotel in general. The food was great, both the breakfast buffet and one lunch we had there. The location is perfect, right in the heart of Copenhagen. However, my favorite hotel in Copenhagen keeps being the Admiral even it's a 4-star. Being at the Skt Petri was a great experience, but 'm glad I was not paying for it.

It may be the perfect option if you have a layover in Copenhagen airport or you've to catch an early morning flight... and of course if budget is not an issue (or your company pays...). Is not near the airport, is AT the airport, just 50 meters from the checkin terminal. The room was nice and functional, very good double bed, working desk, very nice bathroom. Unfortunately I arrived at 10 PM for a business meeting next day at 9 AM, so I could not enjoy much the place. The fitness area and spa looked great but obviously I had no time to to use these. But at last I could enjoy the excellent breakfast!

Back again to Copenhagen on September 2007, another business meeting. This time there were no vacancies at the Admiral (right in front of the office so they usually book us there). Therefore, we were placed at the Strand. It's a 3-star hotel, but better than others from teh same category. According its website it is "housed in one of the harbor front's original warehouses, dating back to 1869. The interior design reflects a rustic, lightly maritime style making it one of the city's most charming hotels with a fantastic atmosphere.". Well, I've to agree on this. I still prefer the Admiral (that's a 4-star and more expensive anyway, so I guess it's logical it's better) but this one was comfortable, nicely decorated, and well located. Rooms from 1000 DKK (not so expensive for Copenhagen)
Unique Qualities: Well equipped rooms all with high speed Internet. Located close to Nyhavn and the shopping street Strøget. Good breakfast

I had to go to Copenhagen for a business meeting with a very short notice. The hotels that our client suggested were full booked due to a major conference in the city on the same dates, so I had to look for something else, and found this hotel after a bit of search. I would not mind to return, even not in summer: the rooms have not A/C and it was unusually hot. I really don’t like much A/C so I would not mind... if I could sleep with the windows open! The hotel is right next the train station (that can be very convenient) but if you open the windows there is a lot of noise from trains all day and night (even with the windows closed there was some noise). There was a small fan which really could not cool the room.
Unique Qualities: Good points: - Location: close to Tivoli Gardens and Train Station - Rooms: large and clean, nice modern room decoration (I like Scandinavian minimalism…), very comfortable beds, tea & coffee-making facilities. I cannot say the decoration of the rest of the hotel was so nice indeed, the corridors are so empty that it’s a bit depressing. - Excellent breakfast buffet (served in the restaurant outside the hotel: eggs, several types of bread, cold meats, cheeses, yogurt, cereals, fruit juices, coffee & tea). - Above all, the excellent spa/sports complex (hotel guests have complimentary use). Unfortunately, I had no time to enjoy a swim this time, but it looked great. - The staff was friendly, polite and helpful. Cons: The bathroom (or better "shower-room), even shiny clean, was too basic (it looked more like a university residence or hostel than a hotel). No complimentary toiletries apart from a dispenser for body wash and shampoo (do not forget to bring with you any other items you may use). Price was relatively good for Denmark standards, 1250 DKK. Overall: farily good hotel, functional but impersonal. Excellent swimming center. Noise and lack to A/C to be taken into account depending on your travel dates.

Basic, but clean. What else do you need? If you need a huge room with a big bed, definitely this is NOT your place. The room was tiny, but clean. If you only want somewhere to rest, not far from the train station and the Tivoli, without spending a fortune... consider this option.
Unique Qualities: Plus: You have access to the fabulous swimming center of the DGI-Byen included on the price (this was the reason I choose this hotel to extend a business trip to the weekend). It was well worth it!

Yet another business meeting, on March 2007. There were no vacancies at the Admiral (right in front of the office so they usually book us there) and we were placed at the Phoenix, nearby. According its website the Phoenix is "4-star deluxe hotel placed in one of Copenhagen's historical buildings. Hotel Phoenix Copenhagen is located in central Copenhagen next to Amalienborg Castle, the charming Nyhavn harbour, Kgs. Nytorv and the shopping street Strøget. Hotel Phoenix Copenhagen has 213 rooms and suites elegantly furnished with inspiration from the Louis XVI epoca". What they don't say its the rooms were very small, the beds not so comfortable (all my colleagues coincided on this) not prepared for a business traveler needs (virtually no room for work), and not so nicely decorated (well, maybe I do have a very high standards for elegance and luxury, but I do not think so). The rooms would be perfect for a 3-star hotel but not for a "4-star deluxe". Funny enough, a few months later I stayed at the Strand, a 3-star from the same brand of hotels, Arp-Hansen, and it was better value IMO.
Unique Qualities: You may like this hotel if you like old-fashion decor. The location is excellent, but I'd say there are better hotels in town in this price range (about 1500 DKK)
