Okey, this isn't a cheap one but it is very special!
This is a real arty hotel: every room has a different decoration made by various artists!
Some rooms have photo's covering the whole wall, others have extraordinary floors! If you don't have the budget just take a look inside. (Ask if you can see the room before you rent it ;-)

Directions: Warmoeststraat near the red light district and Dam square.

This place is a really popular one with young travellers. They have dorms but also double rooms and a great big hangout/ cantina place where you can have meals. It's close to leidsesquare, the museum area and in walking distance of damsquare and the red light district.

Be aware that it can be a bit noisy. But it's a good budget option in the center of Amsterdam.

Directions: Take a tram (1, 2 or 5 from central station) to Leidsestraat, get off at the prinsengracht, from here it's a few minutes walk to the hotel.

This place has a really nice location: in the Vondelpark! Within walking distance of the center you stay here in the calm surroundings of trees, birds and water.

This hostel is part of a chain of 30 places throughout Holland and it's popular with backpackers. They have more than 500 beds in total divided from double rooms to dorms.
They have a nice restaurant with a view on the park where they serve meals, drinks and snacks

Directions: If you walk from Leidsesquare, leaving the leidstraat behind you, cross the bridge, go to the left and take the small street right beside the entrance to the park. The hostel is located 2 minutes form here.
