Antigua: touristic in all its charm

by JenniferG - last update: Dec 13, 2003

Souvenirs everywhere!

Me and local children
This picture is a typical thing for Antigua. This town is the main place for young travellers to study spanish and do some volunteer work. That makes it a nice place to walk around. There are loads of people to meet.

Because of all these tourists the locals see oppurtunities to make some money. You see traditional dressed women and girls selling their arts and crafts everywhere.
Sometimes it's a bit annoying as they can be a agressive about selling their stuff but mainly this city is really nice to hang out for a few days.

The main square is the meetingplace for all the tourists. Trying to find someone? Sit here for a few hours and you will definitely find him!

I bought a lot of souvenirs in Antigua, and an extra bag to put them in. It's easy to find many nice things.
