The United Kingdom is a pretty crowded place - with one fifth of the population of the United States packed into a space that would sit comfortably within Pennsylvania.
Even then, a lot of it is sparsely populated. It's a land of hidden secrets, impossible to get to know without spending a lot of time here. England is a varied and subtle place, and you need to be patient and let it come to you.
This page attempts to guide the traveller to the highlights, well-known or otherwise. Some of the places mentioned are the subject of other pages of mine, and I've indicated where this is the case. |

| Pros: | "A land with history oozing from under every rock" | | Cons: | "Overcrowded and sometimes downright rude!" | | In A Nutshell: | "Infinitely subtle if you know where to look" |

SandiefromAus Sat Jan 24, 2009 23:27 UTC I don't appreciate being called a "wimpy antipodean" I had forgotten how condescending U lot can be towards us Colonials, are U peeved that we chose Vegemite over Marmite? Is it necessary for U to advocate one of your customs by denigrating one of ours? | amandajayne81 Sat Jul 5, 2008 09:36 UTC Some more great pages and helpful tips.
