Party time in Henley is in the first week of July every year when the Henley Royal Regatta is held. At that time of year the town is full of athletic young men and women, together with an assortment of well-heeled people with striped blazers, boaters and Fortnum's hampers. It's a matter of taste - not much to mine I'm afraid.

The rest of the year it's an attractive, affluent Thames-side town with lots of restaurants, cafés, pubs and tea-rooms. It's also a staging post on the Thames Path with lovely riverside walks.

For me it's the objective of strolls from Reading - 30 km return trip or take the train for part or all of one leg. See the travelogue!
