"Sicily in the Summertime" Sicilia by sierralyndon

Sicily had been on my must-go-to list for the longest time. Last August we had the opportunity to visit, against the advice of some Italian friends - "It'll be too hot", "If you want a beach holiday go to Sardegna instead", "It'll be too hot" and "It'll be too hot".

Indeed, it was a little too hot... but we couldn't say that we weren't warned.

We flew in from Milan to Palermo, picked up our rental car and away we went. Our trip covered the western side of Sicily, from Agrigento all the way to Cefalù. We also spent one week on Pantelleria (you can read about that on my Pantelleria page). We'll get the eastern side next time.

Our trip to Sicily was a whole 9 months ago, as I sit here writing this in early May 2005. I really should stop this procrastination I suffer from... I am now struggling to sort out photos, remember restaurant names, etc. as I never take copious notes during trips!

Nonetheless, I will do my best to share some of my memories with you.

• Pros:Sun, great food, and everything's so cheap
• Cons:Some really run-down places and crazy driving
