Turin (Torino) is an easy train ride from Milan. It takes less than 2 hours to get there (1hr 25mins if you take the fast train that heads to Paris).

Strangely a lot of people looked at me funny when I said I wanted to go and visit Turin. They kind of scrunched up their faces and asked "why?", which was a bit worrying.

However, I found myself quite the happy visitor to Turin. There was a lot to do, and we actually ran out of time, and are planning a return trip.

There are plenty of museums in Turin, but we didn't want to spend our day indoors. So we walked around quite a bit to look at the monuments, architecture and to sit on the river banks.

The one thing we were sorry we missed was the river cruise. We thought it was a jump on-jump off service, but it turned out to be a nearly 2 hour return trip. Taking the one way, we would have ended up with quite a far way to walk back. So we had to leave it for next time.
