In a unique way, Ghent has managed to preserve its medieval power while keeping up with times. From an architectural point of view it may not be so beautiful as Bruges, but I find Ghent to have more spirit, more soul. Ghent is also a "student city". The presence of so many young people has turned Ghent into an important Flemish cultural center. Not to mention the nightlife of course!
I studied and lived in Ghent during 3 years and it is one of my favourite Belgian cities!
A wonderful time to visit Ghent is during the "Gentse Feesten". |
