Well, that is the main reason anyone would like to visit this island, no? Walking around, you can't help but photographing almost every single house! The colours reflecting in the water of the surrounding canals is just too beautiful! I heard that people are obliged to paint their house almost every year and in the same colour as it was the year before!

The tradition of painting the houses may have had its origins in the color schemes of local fishing boats. Everywhere you look, you'll see houses clad in blue, green, pink, rose, lavender, purple, yellow, and other colors.

Try to come as early as possible. I arrived in Burano around 9am. In the beginning I had the island almost for myself, but when I left, a couple of hours later, the tour groups already arrived.
