    Getting TO/AROUND: About 15-20 min after the arrival of your flight, there's a ATVO--bus that takes you from the arrival hall directly to Piazzale Roma, in the centre of Venice. A one-way ticket costs 5 euro, 9 euro for a return ticket (prices September 2007). The ride takes about 70 min. As soon as you arrive at the Piazzale Roma, you can take a vaporetto to get into the historical part of Venice, where most of the hotels are situated.

    Getting TO/AROUND: The best way to get around Venice (apart from walking) is the vaporetto. It's the public transport system. Locals as well as tourists use them. There are lots of different stops, which allows you to get almost everywhere in the city. The most famous line is line 1, which goes from Piazzale Roma to the Lido. It's the best way to have a good view of the Canal Grande. Line 82 follows the Canal Grande as well, but is faster and has less stops.

    As soon as you take a line that goes on the Canal Grande, you pay 6 euro for a single trip. (prices September 2007) If you're planning on taking the tour several times, you can get a pass for 24 or 72 hours.

    Getting TO/AROUND: Venice is best explored on foot. If you didn't get lost in one of its little alleys, than you didn't visit Venice! :-) Distances are rather small. And what's even more, if you visit the less touristic areas (like Castello) you actually have the feeling of having Venice all for yourself!
    And if you get lost, don't worry, there are enough signs for San Marco or Rialto to get you back on track.
