Corte Contarina: Great service! Corte Contarini Review

Corte Contarina is a very small hotel, with only 15 rooms. This makes it better to give you a personal service and indeed there was! The staff is very friendly and helpfull! When I arrived, there seemed to be a problem with the room because of the heavy rainfall the day before. To help me out, they let me stay in one of their appartments just opposite the hotel. I could use all facilities: refrigerator, cooking utensils, ... The day after, they upgraded me to one of their better rooms. The rooms are in Venetian style and clean. The location is ideal: in the authentic quarter of Castello, a 15 min walk from Piazza San Marco.
Pretty expensive.

Unique Qualities: Very friendly staff! When I arrived in the late evening, the man at the reception desk allways took time to have a litlle discussion and he allways kept me informed about the Euro 2004 football cup, going on at that moment.

Directions: Get of at the Arsenale Vaporetto Stop. Cross the bridge on your right. Cross the following bridge and turn left, onto the Via Garibaldi. When you see a white church on the left, turn into the small left alley, immediately left again and there it is.

Locanda Ca' Foscari: ideal location Locanda Ca' Foscari Review

Its main asset is the location, in a small alley in the Dorsoduro district. Only a 2 min walk from the San Toma vaporetto stop. Rooms are very clean, and big. We had a room without bathroom and toilet, which were in the corridor and very clean as well. However, the sheets on the breakfast table (which is poor by the way) were dirty and had several spots on them. Staff is polite, but I wouldn't call them extremely friendly. Besides Italian, they speak English and French as well. Looking at the central location, prices are very ok.
