Oh beautiful Venice! When people think of Venice, they immediately think of the romance, the gondolas, San Marco, ... And indeed, it's all there! But Venice is sooo much more! After you have seen the main attractions, you must absolutely go for a walk in the more quiet districts like Cannaregio, Castello, ... Only then you get to see the real Venice with its quaint little alleys and beautiful small canals. Believe me, it's absolutely worth it! I've been twice to Venice and when I think about it, it's not San Marco or Rialto that made the big impressions, but indeed those lively quarters in which the real Venetians still live!
Oh, and don't believe people telling you that Venice is very, very expensive. I agree about the accomodation, prices are indeed very high. But about the food, I don't agree. Do as I did, go and eat in the typical trattorias where menus are only in Italian, and where you can only hear Italian. You'll be surprised, about the quality and the price! |

Wandering Venice at night (preferably Moonlit!) is fantastic. Like the opening picture. |
