Lille is only a 1 hour drive from where I live, so I couldn't really afford to miss this city while being the European Capital of Culture 2004. I visited Lille a couple of years ago, but didn't do much sight-seeing at that time.
And, wow, Lille is really great! It used to be a Flemish city, a long time ago and lots of places and streets still remember of the Flemish past. Lille has some great buildings and facades, but I especially enjoyed the exhibitions I went to see.
Even when Lille won't be the cultural capital anymore in 2005, it still deserves a visit! |
