Honestly, I was somehow a bit afraid before arriving in Phuket. I had nightmares about mass tourism and pictured myself lots of fat, sunburnt people on a beach. And yes, if you only visit Patong Beach, that is what you can expect. But luckily we stayed at Kamala Beach, which is much quieter and we rented a car for 2 days to discover the island. And guess what? I absolutely LOVED Phuket! If you discover the green countryside and look for the quiet beaches, this is a place not to be missed!
Of course since the tsunami of December 2004, everything changed in Phuket. My thoughts are going to everyone who lost relatives or friends during this drama. I decided to keep this pages as a tribute. |
