I wanted to include some of my favorite restaurant in the San Juan area. These restaurants are very cheap but also very good and are a very good opportunity for a foreigner to taste real Puerto Rican food. They are not always posted in the travel guide and I think is a pity.
La casita Blanca or in english 'The little white house'
What I like about this place is that when you go in you are transported to the way Puerto Rican lives a long time ago when everything was very rural. You are in the middle of the city and you go to La casita Blanca and you are not longer in the metropolis you are in the countryside.
Favorite Dish: Rice and beans are the guest of honor of every Puerto Rican household but what it makes it different from others country is the combination of spices that each person used to bring out the best in the rice and beans or “arroz con habichuelas” as we say here. In this restaurant you can taste the best “arroz con habichulas” that you have ever taste and then you order your red meat or chicken or if you prefer vegetables and you are good to go. and don’t forget your dessert because after all a good meal is not complete without a great dessert(you can try arroz con leche, dulce de coco, aniz) ah!! and don’t forget to ask for the great mavi you will love it.
