Salzburg is really the city of music and culture, situated at the very heart of Austria. The name Mozart says it all. Not to forget “The sound of Music”, one of my favorite films. I visited Salzburg for a week in winter last year, just in time to see the white side of Mozart’s town. It was dreamlike, all covered by snow and Christmas carols echoed out of every corner. The city is so original and unique like in a fairy tale and therefore so beautiful. The snap above was taken from the Hohensalzburg Fortress.

Salzburg makes you feel the presence of its history wherever you go which really mesmerized me. Everything has got a Mozart tag stuck on it, Museums, houses, chocolate, you name it.

Besides, traveling to Salzburg via Munich is hitting two birds with one stone. The panorama along the way is fabulous. I can only tell you how romantic the landscape can be in winter but I guess the same applies for summer. Lake Chiemsee alone offers you an unforgettable view.
