Road Trip Stop

Map of Flying "J" Travel Plazas
The highlight of our annual journey from Salt Lake City, Utah to Ketchum, Idaho is the stop at the Flying "J" Plaza truck stop. Great chance to experience "Americana" at it's cheesiest. Literally... This chain of service stations have showers, pinball machines, internet access, clean bathrooms, every kind of junky snack food imaginable, toys, semi-truck accessories, clothing…
Snake River Canyon

Snake River Canyon

You are driving along and everything is flat then suddenly the ground opens up to a dramatic canyon. A nice arched steel bridge spans across this chasm and there is an overlook at one end of it with a visitor's center. Motorcyclist daredevil Evel Knievel attempted to jump this section of the Snake River Canyon in 1974.
Unusual Cottage

Quaint Neighbohood and Downtown Shopping District

Twin Falls has lovely older homes, a large grassy park with lush shade trees and a cute downtown area that has some decent antique stores and thrift shops. Family run businesses still dot the storefronts.

Pros:"From the Highway to the sleepy old downtown district, it is quaint"
Cons:"Soulless newer business strip with every chain store or restaurant imaginable"
In A Nutshell:"Great place to rest when road weary and explore Snake River Canyon"

or better yet, sweet AND salty at the same time, yum! I remember seeing the falls during a flood, very impressive! Then on another visit it was hardly a trickle...
