California's High Desert | The East Mojave after a spring rain/snow. |
Most people perceive the deserts of the southwest from interstate highways while traveling at 80 MPH and think, "I hate the desert, everything looks the same, and it's ugly". What we say is slow down, get out of your car, wander around and discover the micro environment of these expansive landscapes. Also, if you get off of the highway, and investigate its 2-lane byways you will encounter an amazing topography where no super-highway could ever be built. |

diocletianvs Wed Jan 12, 2005 19:08 UTC Looks like an ideal place for trainspotters and flowerspotters. Great photos of nature. (And it seems that you ignored the sign not to enter that mine ;)) | KristaB Thu Aug 26, 2004 12:40 UTC I want to hear the desert sand singing and cacophony of the dunes roaring! (Who wrote this, Mary or Scott, ha?) |
