This title may sound a little silly, but Echo Park is an incredibly diverse community where people actually know their neighbors. Not just as they drive-by before heading into their garages but when they stand around talking past dark, while walking their dogs in Elysian Park or working together at one of the many community events where neighbors regularly comes together to give back to the community and to each other. California State Librarian Kevin Starr describes Echo Park as “…a semi-rural pocket of modest hillside homes a brief distance from the center of the city. The night-time diorama of light from central Los Angeles proved one of the major attractions of living in this urban woodland.”
