Guam USA. Although not a tropical paradise and a bit overrun with tourists/mega resorts, (especially around Tumon Bay) Guam does have many things to offer...
The waters around Guam are crystal clear, and the diving and snorkeling here are excellent. WWII historical sights are also abundant for those who have an interest in the war in the Pacific...
You can also find places symbolic of both Chamorro and Spanish heritage here; Latte stones, Plaza de Espana, even a rotary pope statue...
Moving on to the eye sores, there is the biggest Kmart in the world (I didn't personally verify this), mega shopping strip malls, Gun Clubs, strips joints, and lots and lots of tourist schlock, which is certainly not in short supply.
But, all in all, Guam is not a bad place, especially the farther you get away from Tumon Bay...

A funny thing I overheard while in Cabo recently was a woman blurting out loud, "I hope they have a Costco here!" Dunno why, but it immediately made me think of you and your Kmart runs in Guam....
Very nice information! :) Thanks! My husband is there and I am going to share it with him. I appreciate your candor and honesty.
'way different from May 1967 when I hiked in there as an Arc Light copilot - it was a remote and challenging hike thru the jungle back then
looks great-snorkling, shopping, shooting, what else could a woman want-ps. you can keep Suzy! :-))
great page !
See, you've been to all the places that I wish to visit. : )
Thanks Ken for taking me "home"......spent 6 years on Guam and wish it were 600.....loved the island loved the people miss them both thanks.....bob
The Latte Stones look very interesting and mysterious! But Yokoi's hideaway...how was he able to do this for so long!!
How did you get to Guam? Did you go there specifically for holiday? Interesting pages esp. about the soldier who lived in the cave.
I knew nothing about this place until reading these pages. Thanks for enlightening me. ;-)
