    • Though the town and over developed coastline around Hurghada aren't much to look at, the sunrises sure can been nice.

    Here you can get three for one in your picture frame: A palm tree, a crescent moon, and dawn's first light...

    • Obviously, with its beach front setting on the Red Sea, Hurghada has many opportunities for snorkelling and diving.

    I passed on it here because (1) my time as short, (2) I was diving later in Sharm, and (3) it was pretty cold and windy the day or two that I was there.

    That said, I saw quite a few people splashing around in the bay snorkeling with nary a wet suit.

    They must have been from Siberia or some other arctic clime. (Hardier souls that I am...)

    • Though not as famous as the White Desert to the West, or the desert mountains on the Sinai Peninsula, the Eastern (Arabian) Desert that sits west of Hurghada are still strikingly beautiful.

    Easy to arrange transport out here for a 4WD tour of the mountain scenery. Catching the sunset across these mountains, then watching the whole desert world drop into pitch darkness is really something to behold...

    • This picture didnt capture the feeling as well as I would have hoped, but seeing the last rays of sunlight creating a halo effect over the Red Sea Mountain Range was quite something to behold....

     I dove in Soma Bay near Hurghada. Water was cold even with 7mm in January, but it was good. Fly from Taiwan to Tokyo or Osak to Bora Bora. It would be the easiest. Too many Japanese in Bora Bora, btw. :))    		BorneoGrrl Fri Jun 2, 2006 07:25 UTC
