|  | Well, first to dispel any rumours to the contrary, Sharm el Sheikh is really not Egypt. Though the name sounds Egyptian and on a map, it sure looks like it is in Egypt, one visit here will prove otherwise...
The name sure sounds exotic: Sharm el Sheikh... Kinda sounds like a place to find caravans and bedouins and the like... The reality couldn't be further from that, though... |

| | This place looks more like a 5 star Euro-colony that has been ceded by the local authorities for wintertime annexation by beach-loving Italians, French, Germans, and English who want to escape the Euro-cold for some fun in the sun...
I'm sure that there are coastal towns in the Sinai where you can get a more authentic Egyptian flavor to them, just this is not it...
Great place to dive, though... My advise to visiting here would be to minimize time spent at the mega concrete 5 star resort, and spend all of your time either diving in the blue waters of the Red Sea, or hiking up in the equally beautiful Sinai mountains that surround this town...(OK OK, yeah, I guess its OK to save some time for Bamba dancing with Fabio, too...) |

Hi Ken, what's Sharm like compared to Hughada? Bear in mind I'm a 'snorkeller'! Went to Hurghada last year, considering Sharm next month! Cheers! |
