While Pulau Redang is certainly a beautiful island, there are considerations that you should think about before you pick this as your holiday destination.

If you are just interesting in maximizing you time eiter in, on, near, or under the sea, then by all means this is the place for you.

However, if you are looking for fine dining, vibrant nightline, or a cheap, convenient, easy place to stay, then best to look elsewhere...

The island is fairly conservative, and there is nary cold beer to be found anywhere outside the hotels here. Also, there are very few restaurants, so you can end up eating most every meal at your hotel, which can be somewhat monotonous...

But for me, I was here for the diving, snorkeling, kayaking, swimming, and the like so Redang is an ideal place for this type of trip....

The itinerary for a typical day here went something like this: wake up, breakfast, jump on boat, dive #1, snorkel for an hour, dive #2, lunch, nap, jump on another boat, dive #3, kayak/lounge at pool, dinner, a few (precious) beers under the stars, and bed...

Over and over and over for about a week... (perfect for me, but maybe not the ideal vacation for others...)
