"The Balanced Boulder of Kyaiktiyo..." Kyaiktiyo by kenmerk
Kyaiktiyo Travel Guide: 47 reviews and 137 photos
The Balanced Boulder of Kyiaktiyo, along with Shwedagon Paya in Yangon is one of the two main pilgrimage sites for the Burmese Buddhists.
The paya on top of this boulder is said to contain one hair of the Buddha, which keeps the big rock from tumbling down the hill.
Seeing the rock is interesting, but the journey out there is certainly half the fun... (Especially when you start blowing tires and over heating radiators along the way....)

Oooo... The golden rock is amazing. It looks nicer in the day.
I know what you mean about experiencing what it is like when you are there (at the Balancing Boulder)! When you see, feel, hear and smell the experience - it is different. Great page!
Hey I think that once it used to belong to Thailand LOL!!
my next visit to Myanmar is to see Kyaikiyo,
Strange...when I went to Bago I was able to take pictures when going over the bridge. But, even stranger, I didn't see a balanced boulder;-)
The journey to one sight is absolutly half the fun!
I've seen a fair share of Buddha statues in the last few weeks...
"I almost got the full body cavity search treatment from a friendly Burmese Army type..." That is great!!! They care for your health, and the "medical" check is free!!! ;-)
Asia is calling me back again, Ken. I can smell the incense.....the jasmine.......the street vendors selling their dishes......and there's a voice in my head. Very faint. I think it's saying: "Bring Beer......."
Fab Fotos, Ken! THANKS!
