Night view of the Balance Boulder... - Kyaiktiyo

The Balanced Boulder of Kyiaktiyo, along with Shwedagon Paya in Yangon is one of the two main pilgrimage sites for the Burmese Buddhists.

The paya on top of this boulder is said to contain one hair of the Buddha, which keeps the big rock from tumbling down the hill.

Seeing the rock is interesting, but the journey out there is certainly half the fun... (Especially when you start blowing tires and over heating radiators along the way....)

I know what you mean about experiencing what it is like when you are there (at the Balancing Boulder)! When you see, feel, hear and smell the experience - it is different. Great page!

Strange...when I went to Bago I was able to take pictures when going over the bridge. But, even stranger, I didn't see a balanced boulder;-)
