"Journey to the Mystical Mid River Paya" Kyauktan by kenmerk
Kyauktan Travel Guide: 9 reviews and 11 photos
For a nice diversion from the big city of Yangon, a trip out into the delta region cannot be beat.
One such adventure is the journey to the Yele Mid-river Paya near Kyauktan. This Paya is set on a small island that sits mid stream in a wide muddy river, which makes for a unique setting.
Also, there are a couple of other interesting places to stop along the way, including the historic town of Thanlyin and the impressive Kyaik-Khauk Golden Paya...
So if you have a free day in Yangon, and want to escape the maddening crowds for a while, this excursion would come highly recommended...

2 hairs of Buddha, geez. Do people over there pray to those things? Over here in S'pore, we have another relic, the tooth of buddha. The poor chap must have stripped apart after he died.
Kyokutan in Japanese is extreme. Extremely helpful tips!
Cool page! Love the story about the bet down for a dollar! Watch out next time though! Great stuff. :o)
GREAT photos from one of my favorite country's!
They should have saved some of Tara's pubic hairs... That I would like to have seen!
It is an interesting place to visit, so golden.
Next time Ken, try battin' a few eyelashes and flashing a bright smile whilst showing some leg to the "Gestapo" at the Yele Paya. You might be able to sweet talk your way outta payin' that dollar!
An interesting looking spot - great architecture! I had never experienced the old 'pay for the camera' hook until visiting Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula this year!
We were apprehended for walking past the camera fee station in Indien! haha Kyauktan sure seems to be another of those fabulous Myanmar sights! I really enjoyed reading about your adventures...makes me want to hit the road!
The good new is that Buddha had only 32 teeth... I like those ferries... they look like our buses at rush hour!
