Yangon is the capital of Burma. Although it is a fairly big city (4 million) It doesn't give that big city feel. Here you find very few tall buildings, decaying British colonial architecture, and also seeing all the locals strolling about in longyis and wearing the yellow danaka paste on their faces, gives even the capital city an exotic feel...

Ken, are there other things to see besides pagodas? I don't have a thing for pre-historic tooths, relics or not;)
The name Rangoon conjures up old Colonial images for me!! Great opening shot of the Yele Paya and I had not heard of Danaka paste before! You've got nice stage presence too!
Not going to stay at the Strand but will have high tea there next weekend ;-) Savoy should be pretty good, slh group. I'll try to check out Thanlyin if I get a chance. God bless the weather! :-)
Rats in the Strand when old Cliffie was there - but that was a long time ago!
Wow! you make me miss my time there, and also I miss the seafood place it was so good. WooHoo the hotel so expensive I only stay at Mother's Land Inn -(( Great page you have, happy travel ya-))
Beautiful temples here! The Strand seems the right place 4 me, yeah! So U were the star of the show? :-)
beautiful and interesting page!
Would love to return to Rangoon at some point....
