"CORAL PINK SAND DUNES" Kanab by mtncorg

Kanab Travel Guide: 79 reviews and 222 photos

Kanab, itself, is a fascinating town with a long history of forts, pioneers and movie making, but in these pages I concern myself with a nearby Utah State Park - Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park.

Coral pink is the color of the sand, though you could also like the color to rust. The sand particles are quartz in make up, and have coalesced at the bottom of the Vermillion Cliffs. The dunes are a favorite with ATVers and you will find them scooting about them at all times of the day. A very fascinating nature trail takes you out and about into the dunes and there is a nice campground available to overnight.

Enjoyed the wander through the dunes, Mark. What a great place to camp despite the ATVs and in your case, cow! lol

Very striking photos of a gorgeous area -- but I think I'd have a hard time with those ATVers. Never thought much about the purpose of those double campsites, but you must be right!

Yeah, how right you are - these gems along HW 89 are not that much known :-) Coral Pink Sand Dunes are on my list for next time :-) Nice shots :-))
