Isle of Arran Travel Guide: 60 reviews and 364 photos
Arran’s moniker is ‘Scotland in Miniature’ and some might agree. There are mountains (the geological boundary between Lowlands and Highlands cuts Arran in half), glens, sparkling seas, ruined and restored castles, beer and whisky, sheep midges, and a dirth of people (Clearances). Yet if you stand atop Goatfell or one of the island’s other tall peaks you can see into the island’s soul. It is no one’s nutshell.

Good pages. Currently planning a sentimental journey back there - had a summer job in Brodick the summer of '72
I'm planning on finally visiting Arran in a week or so, great pictures, it looks so beautiful! :) Looking forward to seeing it for myself and will have to bear your tips in mind
Gorgeous scenery in your excellent pictures. It looks like a great island to visit, with the castles, the mountains and the red deer. Pity about the weather but your solutions here sound very sensible.
hehe, the amount of place names you came across you might as well join the Gaelic language learning group :))
Hi Mark, I enjoyed reading this fine new page. Excellent and evocative photos! Too bad the weather interfered with your hiking plans.
I see the good Duke took eminent domain and forest thinning to a new level. Impressive photos and excellent tips, too!
