For such a small country, Belgium is a country of great diversity and full of little jewels that are awaiting you to discover them. People know a little of Brussels and maybe Brugges, but that is where the familiarity stops. I will slowly add more from my travels to this surprising country over time. Know that this is a country you can easily lose yourself in. The country has a rich history of fine food and some of the best beer in the world. History abounds as the country has sadly been on the route of many invaders. The country also supports a wide geography of natural beauty - the forested hillscapes of the Ardennes, the farmlands of the Walloons, the magic of the townscapes of Dinant and Namur, just to name a couple.
You know you are on a Belgian freeway/autobahn/autoroute by the fact that all of Belgian's routes are lighted. |

hunterV Sun Jun 21, 2009 19:10 UTC Hi, Mark! I would like to savor the towns placidly too... maybe some day... | Nemorino Wed Jan 23, 2008 16:34 UTC Thanks for the tour of Belgium. Glad you did some cycling there. I was in Brussels recently, where I also rented a bicycle. And I saw the same opera twice, in slightly different versions, on two consecutive evenings. | irisbe Sat Nov 11, 2006 08:34 UTC I can't wait for more of your tips! Already a nice collection :) and I agree on the Orval beer ! One of my favorite beers too! | Luchonda Sun Apr 30, 2006 17:43 UTC Cheers Mark and Greets from Belgium |
