Nature's finest

by pmarshuk - last update: Aug 13, 2004

What else is there to be said about one of the most spectacular natural sights in the world (of what I've seen so far). Went to Yosemite 3 times during a short spell of working in San Jose.
Most of my trips were confined to the Valley, Wawona and the Mariposa Grove as I went with different people and for them it was their first visit - hence see the main tourist spots.
My first trip was in December and I caught the first snowfall of the winter in the valley. It's amazing how different it all looks when there are virtually no people around and everything is a dazzling white.
Next trip was in March and the weather was getting pretty warm. The snow on the valley floor had gone, but there was still a lot up high. The highlight of this visit was following the Mist Trail past Vernal Falls, scrambling to the top of Neveda falls, then following the trail down the other side of the valley back to Happy Isles

The third visit was in May and this time the weather was getting really hot and all the waterfalls were in full flow, totally different from December when some are really quite low on water volume. This time the walk up the lower part of the Mist Trail left us soaked before we got anywhere near Vernal.
Also on this trip Glacier Point was open and wow what a view.

Great waterfall pictures, I love waterfalls! When I was there during september, there was no water in the Yosemite Falls, very disappointing!

Thanks for visiting my Yosemite page. Yours is great too, nice photos. Your page reminded me that I haven't been to Mariposa grove yet but I hope to do it this coming May.
