There is a paddle Boat which takes trippers around the lake. Here it is (just) coming across a bay.

I think this island is in a place named Emerald Bay. If not it should be judging by the colour of the water.

Here's what the lake looks like from lake level. Thsi little beach was just on the edge of South Lake Tahoe.

The lake is high up in the Sierra Nevada so is surrounded by spectacular mountains. In winter these provide fantastic skiing resorts. They have held the winter olympics here.
