Between May and November Hermanus is evidently superb for whale watching, when the Southern Right Whales can come to within a few metres of the shore. However I've only been there in February and March so I haven't seen them yet.
Before my daughter moved to run a safari lodge in Botswana she and her husband worked in the Marine Hotel in Hermanus (he was sous chef so whenever we ate there he made sure the food was delicious). |

Like you Phil, I too was in Hermanus just a little early to see the whales. There had been a few sightings when I was there but I didn't get to see any. Just another reason to return to RSA some day! |
