Knysna is a very pleasant town along the Garden route and is definitely a must to visit. The town is located alongside a large lagoon accessed from the ocean by a narrow opening called the Heads. The lagoon is home to some oyster farms - a trip to see them is well worthwhile and the oysters farmed here are enormous. The tourist area of the town is split into two areas, the main street a little back from the lagoon and the quays, which have been developed with some nice bars, restaurants and shops. There is one shop down here (34' South) that stocks the most wonderful selection of South African food and wine. The picture shows a view of Knysna from across the lagoon |
