Cafe Cultura: Little bit of Luxury! Compare Rates
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Satisfaction:
  • When we arrived in our 1st destination we decided to book in to a hotel with lots of luxury just to give us time to get adjusted. I think if we had been allocated a better room our stay would have been much more enjoyable. We were in the attic area of the property and found it noisy (you could hear the people in the next room talking, snoring etc!!) and therefore hard to sleep (people tend to leave Quito early on flights to the Galapagos and luggage being moved about at 4-5am is not good!) The food was very good (but pricey by Quito standards) and the menu had a good variety of choice. The lounge area was lovely to relax in with huge sofas and a roaring fire when the nights got cooler.

Unique Qualities: The rooms are all individually decorated by artists and are quite unique (check out the web site which has picture of each of the rooms so you can choose). If you choose a room you would like to stay in make sure you specifically request it on booking. Make sure the room is in the downstairs back part of the hotel, we met a number of people who stayed and had no problems with noise.

    Crossroads Hostal: Central Location
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Satisfaction:
  • After our bout of expense at Cafe Cultura we went for the cheaper option Hostel. Crossroads (coming from Birmingham, for those of you that know the Ex-soap opera) was in the centre of Gringo Landia and surrounded by all the amenities we required. The double rooms are large and clean. There is a kitchen, TV room and Cafe on site. Our only issue was that the room seemed to get slightly damp, check this out before accepting the room as they may have sorted it out. We got the room for $11 per person per night.

Hilton Colon Quito: Probably the best in town. Compare Rates
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Satisfaction:
  • We were put up here for one night after the flight we were booked on to was cancelled. It was the best place that we stayed in whilst in Quito, without a shadow of a doubt, but I have to say that there was absolutely no way we could've afforded it ourselves. The room was huge as was the very comfortable bed. The bathroom was well kitted out and it even had potable water! Usual extras included TV with sattelite channels. The service was excellent and we were made to feel incredibly comfortable in the short time that we spent there.

It's location isn't too bad idea, being on the edge of the new town, near the museum of the national bank and South American Explorers club house. It's also only a short walk from Gringolandia, with it's internet cafes, travel agents and restaurants. Having said that, if you can afford to stay here, you may not really be looking to check out the local backpacker trail! :)

Unique Qualities: It has a fantastic view of the park and has the usual impeccible service that you would expect from the Hilton brand. It has a pool, casino and fitness room, if that floats your boat.
