"A place to Explore castle ruins on your... " a Manderscheid Travel Page by V_Minx

There is the town of Manderscheid, but I haven't been there. Instead, I've paid a few Euro and explored the ruins of Niederburg Manderscheid.

If you don't wish to pay any money, but still wish to see castle ruins, then look for the path that leads to the green space & park behind the castle. You can find a path leading up the hill in the woods that will take you to the ruins on the hill. This castle is in a worst condition than the one you must pay for, but you still get a feel for what life might have been like hundreds of years ago.
