People often ask me why I like Arches so much. Then I give them a strange look and tell them I'd just like to wait for the bus in peace. No, seriously though, Arches National Park is easily one of my favorite national parks.* I know I say that a lot, but this time I really mean it!** It's a beautiful place filled with over 2,000 known arches, the largest concentration of natural arches in the world! Arches is a popular destination for families because it is easily accessable from Moab and many of the most popular arches can be seen either from your car or by taking a short easy walk. People say to me, "Brandon," they say, "what created the arches in Arches National Park?" Then I usually smack them because I've already told them I just want to wait for the bus in peace. After they give me a thorough beating for smacking them, I finally give in and tell them that rain and wind over thousands of years have broken out lays of rock fins and cliffs. This rain and wind eats away at the soft underlayer of rock leaving freehanging arches. If you would like to learn more about how arches are formed, visit your local library because I really do just want to wait for the bus in peace!

- Pros:Easily accessable, family friendly, plenty of short walks
- Cons:Hot in summer, crowds
