Things To Do: Castle Tarasp

The most important historical building in the Engiadina Bassa is castle Tarasp. It is located on a hill right in the middle of the valley. Due to this exceptional location it is the dominating landmark and visible from many places. The castle was first mentioned in 1040. From outside it looks like a medieval castle, but inside you find it to be very comfortable (but romantic). The reason is, that Karl August Lingner, an entrepreneur from Dresden, bought the castle in 1900 and restored it. He also initiated to build an organ in the castle (by famous Jehmlich, Dresden). Magnificent interior from all over Graubünden and nearby Italy was used for the restoration. opening hours: June 1 - Oct 15: daily guided tours at 14.30 and 15.30 winter: Tue and Thu 16.30 guided tours

yumyum Wed Apr 18, 2007 19:58 UTC Did you go to the Thermal bath? I was once there and liked the outside pool very much. I find Scuol quite cute :)) | HORSCHECK Wed Apr 18, 2007 17:39 UTC Ingo, lovely page about this gem in Graubünden. Up to now I haven't been there but at least I once sat on a train in the direction of Scoul. As always I like your restaurant tips. :-) | JudyinPA Wed Apr 26, 2006 14:06 UTC I came to look at one of my favorite areas of Switz. I would always stop back if ever there again. I am ever thankful for your Pension Val Tuoi and Guarda recommendation. It is such a wonderful experience up on the mountainside.. | globetrott Tue Apr 18, 2006 03:36 UTC What a lovely place with great architecture ! |
