Public Transportation

Another option is to get to Pillnitz by public transportation. The tram/bus service in Dresden is very sufficient. Tram No. 1 runs from the city centre to Kleinzschachwitz right vis-a-vis from Pillnitz on the other side of the Elbe river. Take the ferry to cross the river.

Or take tram No. 6 from the railway station Dresden-Neustadt or No. 12 from the city centre to Schillerplatz where you can change to Bus No. 83 to Pillnitz.

Steamer in Pillnitz - Schloß Pillnitz

Steamer in Pillnitz

Steamboat

Definitely the best option to get to Pillnitz is by steamboat.

The trip starts in the city centre of Dresden (Terrassenufer) right in front of Brühl's Terrace with a stop near the Blue Wonder bridge and takes about 90 minutes.

The scenery with hills, vineyards, castles, villas etc. is awesome.
