church St. Gangolf

St. Gangolf is the oldest church of Bamberg, it was built 1058 - 63. The nave is preserved in Romanesque style, the choir and the towers were rebuilt in Gothic style.

Inside you will find only a very few works of art. Most fell a victim to a renovation in 1850.

The church is located in the "Theuerstadt" quarter, on the right bank of the Main-Donau Canal, about 10 minutes walk from the city centre.

Little Venice

There is a picturesque ensemble of former fishermen's houses in Bamberg. It is best viewed from the bridge by the town hall.

Due to its location right by the Regnitz river it is called "Little Venice". Nothing special, but very charming with a couple of good restaurants.
