Silver Falls State Park is a tiny but pretty park just east of Salem in Central Oregon. The park is most famous for its ten waterfalls, located within a seven mile radius.

The park's origins began with the creation of the Civilian Conservation Corps, a depression-era project which provided jobs to many of the unemployed. One of those projects was to improve forest land. So the CCC established a camp at Silver Falls and created the log structures and trails that are maintained to this day.

Silver Falls is an excellent day trip from Salem. It is a long journey from the Oregon Coast, but it is a worthwhile out of the way place to explore.

This is one of those places I am glad to live near, but it is always nice to see what people from outside our region have to say about it.

Nice to see a photo of the CC Lodge. I was so elated after doing the hike, I forgot all about it. What a great place to camp.

A great daytrip from Portland too. $3 day fee at the parking lots and if you go right now, the falls are definitely thundering ;-\
