I have little to say about Reno as it was a launching pad for other destinations and not the destination in itself. The first impression of Reno was that it was a rather tacky attempt to impersonate Las Vegas. And that was from stepping off the airplane into a maze of slot machines. I was completely unprepared for this and in not in a "Las Vegas state of mind". I hightailed it out of there as I was a day late for my trip to the Sierras.
I did admire the mountains surrounding the small city and the people did seem genuinely friendly. Reno probably has its good points. I just kept running into those loud, flashing slot machines which seemed to be everywhere that I went. Perhaps I just went to the wrong places.
So, here's what little I know of Reno, which included a brief trip to the disappointingly congested South Tahoe and a stay at an unnamed hotel. I can probably tell you more about the places near and far to Reno than the city itself. But I'll share what little wisdom I can and will try my best not to make anymore comments about those slot machines. |
