Yankee Clipper Motor Lodge and other North Conway, NH Hotel/Accommodation Reviews

Don't expect much here. The room was a standard motel room with bad lighting and worn carpeting. The shower went cold after about 10 minutes. But the motelis clean and, as of July, 2003, recently renovated. And in this area, its tough to get a room anywhere for under $100 in the summertime. So at $69 a night, it is a bargain, generally speaking.

Unique Qualities: There's a pool and a restaurant and the staff is friendly.

Most lodging in North Conway falls into two categories. The very expensive resort style lodging and the relatively expensive motels. I've opted for the latter category twice and this time with better results than the first.

The Clarendon is a small, no frills motel. Like most North Conway motels, its summer rates are pretty high (around 90 per night as of July, 2006.) But the clean, well run motel takes a stab at making things a little better than your average efficiency lodging. The rooms are nicely decorated, beds are comfortable, and the travel packs, which include snacks for hiking and other small prizes, are a nice touch. The motel also offers a free continental breakfast. I stayed here for one night and found that it met my needs quite well. There is no restaurant on the premises, but the motel is located along the highway and there are plenty of options only a short distance away.
