The Westin Copley Place Boston: The Westin Copley Place
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Satisfaction:
  • The hotel is pricey for what it offers, which is more a reflection of its location rather than its accommodations and amenities. When I stayed there in 2002, there were many problems with the elevators, which caused a lot of frustration since the room was located on a high hotel floor. The staff wasn't particularly responsive either, which is surprising for a Westin Hotel.

Unique Qualities: Nothing extraordinary. Walking distance to Faneuil Hall and some bars and restaurants. Also, the hotel is connected to Copley Place, an upscale shopping mall.

Hilton Boston Logan Airport: Hilton Boston Logan Airport Compare Rates
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Satisfaction:
  • The main reason for staying at this hotel is convenience. For me, it was not having to drive to or around Boston. Either way, you can't get any closer to the airport than this. Its a pricey place to stay, but a good bet for a late arrival or early departure. Its also a full service fairly high end Hilton with conference rooms, a business center and all the amenities that come with the steep room rate, even for a Friday evening which is usually the best time to snag a good rate at an airport hotel.

This hotel has a beautiful lobby. At least, I think it does. After a 4 hour delay from Miami International, I didn't get here until 4 a.m. so I wasn't too focused on the fabulous amenities offered. The room was extremely comfortable and I got a great 3 hours sleep here. Loved the thick comforters, although, at that point, I could have slept on a wooden board. The staff was friendly and helpful, even when accommodating a 4 a.m. arrival. The front desk operator was polite and sympathetic (after he got over his surprise that I was checking in at this time of night) and even offered to find someone to help with my bags. That's some great service for 4 a.m.

All in all, it was a great stay. I just wish I'd spent more time here, particularly engaged in the activity of sleeping.

Unique Qualities: I booked this hotel imagining it would be as convenient as the Hilton O'Hare, where you just walk from the terminal to the hotel. It isn't. The hotel is located near Terminal A and required a shuttle bus ride. I believe there is a way to walk from baggage claim, but I asked a couple of employees (a few had no idea what I meant by Hilton, which struck me as strange since they work at the airport and this hotel is located on airport property. But, then again, it was 4 a.m. and maybe they weren't really airport employees.) and they made it sound like a four hour trek. I was given an incoherent explanation that ended with the phrase "you may want to just take the shuttle. ) Its still as close as you're going to get and, during normal hours, the shuttle operates every 5 minutes. I couldn't find the right shuttle and was too tired to wait, so I hopped a cab. Fortunately, the cab driver had heard of the "Hilton Logan Airport" and it was only a $5 ride.

Four Points Boston Logal Airport: Four Points Boston Logal Airport
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Satisfaction:
  • I found this to be a much better bet than the Hilton. For one thing, it was much cheaper. The hotel is not on the airport grounds. In fact, when taking the shuttle over to the hotel, I began to wonder if it was actually located in the state of Massachusetts. In actuality, its about a 10 minute ride away.

The 4 Points hotels are really making great strides at being as comfortable as a Sheraton. I'm actually starting to like them a little better. The "Four Comfort Beds" are not as great as the "Sweet Sleepers", but they are a lot better than the old hard mattresses offered at these "Sheraton lite" hotels. The hotel also offers free wireless access. A pretty big perk considering most hotels charge $12 and up for this service.

The rooms are on the small side, but everything was in working order. The hotel also had a pretty good Japanese restaurant which served Benihana style meals at fairly reasonable prices. The chocolate cookies offered at check in were a nice perk.

The hotel shuttle operates 24 hours and is very punctual. Its rare to find shuttle service every 15 minutes for an early morning flight.

All in all, I'd have to recommend this place. It wasn't cheap, but more affordable than the on airport hotels. And, for me, the greatest perk of all was that I didn't have to drive to or around Boston.

Yup Yup. Driving in Boston is awful. All those one way streets don't help either.

Some of us Bostonian drivers are just...confused. But that's because we're transplants--bad driving skills weren't taught to us in elementary school, like they were for the locals! ;)
