Mountain City Travel Guide: 4 reviews and 6 photos

Mountain City is barely a spot on the map. One of those little blink and you'll miss it towns that you pass through along a highway leading to bigger and better billboards. The welcoming sign advertises Mountain City as a friendly and spectacular place. And, while we all know that road signs never lie or exaggerate, most people tend to ignore this outstretched baton of friendliness and drive right by.

I must admit I did just that. Drove right on through Mountain City proper, or whatever its called. But, just outside the main drag there's a pretty little state park that's worth a stop, especially on a Wednesday because parks are free on this day.

Pros and Cons

Pros:Friendly, interesting town (so says the sign) and interesting state park.
Cons:The sign might by inaccurate and there may be better stuff up ahead.
In a nutshell:Stop and take a look.

Looks like some breathtaking views. Have you considered hiking the Appalachian Trail? Can't remember if we discussed or not - or if you have it on one of your pages. I should go look.
