Home sweet home

Vizcaya
I've lived in Miami my entire life and, like most places, it has its positive and negative attributes. Year 'round sunshine is definitely a good thing, although I could live without the sweltering summers when the humidity-laden air feels as though it will choke you. A city filled with people from different cultures makes brings diversity in the form of festivals, cuisine and people from all over. On the other hand, Miami's diversity and popularity have lead to tension and frustration as the overcrowded city struggles with its inhabitants desire to maintain cutlural independence. Overcrowded conditions, seemingly endless traffic jams and, even more disconcerting, a perceived sense of supreriority on the part of various groups have eroded, in large part, the friendly city that was once Miami
.
This is not to say that Miami isn't a great place. It still is. Strolling along Ocean Drive on Miami Beach, either on foot or by car, ocean breezes tickling your skin, wafting aromas of various cuisine from sidewalk restaurants eliciting hunger pangs for food you can't even pronounce while tapping hands and feet to the varied sounds of carribean, salsa and house music, are things that make this city so special.

The beaches are a huge attraction in Miami. Since I live here, I never visit the beach. But everyone who visits makes a pilgrimage to the white sand playground. Many people escape cold and gray northeast winters for Miami's 80 degrees and sunshine in December. Another thing that makes Miami quite special.

And it wouldn't be Miami without its world famous nightlife. South BEach has reached almost legendary proportions. What is it about this place that compels clubgoers to wait in line for an hour to enter one of these dark yet trendy places? Beats me, especially since I've been inside many of them. But, again, the South Beach nightlife is something a Miami traveler must see.

Learn to speak Spanish or at least look like a Latino to be treated with class and respect. Dont get me wrong there are some nice people here but the general sentiment is Some of the rudest people with no class live here.
