Colorado Springs was created in the 1870's by General William Palmer. The residents of this resort town became the most affluent in the nations during the early 1900s due to the discovery of gold at nearby Cripple Creek. After World War II, the city became a military area and is currently home to the U.S. Air Force Academy and Fort Carson, Colorado's largest army base.
- Pros:Not far Denver, great hiking and beautiful scenery

I don't do rock climbing but you have some nice pictures here. It's been over 30 years since I lived in the Springs. It' still a nice place I hope. Thanks for sharing your impression of it.
